The bike tour starts in Keszthely. Last time, we left Bordás Vince Walkway, next to the Station. The walkway itself is a part of the cycle path at Lake Balaton. First, we ride on the Northern part of the Lake until we arrive to Balatongyörök, passing through Gyenesdiás and Vonyarcvashegy.
Along the way, it is worth to stop at the (small) beach of Alsógyenes, which still preserves the memories of the past nostalgic summers at Lake Balaton. Besides, the Saint Michael Hill might give us a unique experience, too. Not only the chapel but also the view is beautiful there.
After Balatongyörök we can have a rest at the ‘Szépkilátó’. Moreover, in Balatonederics, there is the African Museum, which is Dr. Endre Nagy’s legacy.
The famous sights of Szigliget are the Castle Hill and the ruins of the ancient Castle. When you stand there, you can see one of the most beautiful landscapes of Hungary. Riding farther, we pass Badacsonytördemic and the next stop is Badacsonytomaj, from where we sail to Fonyód. Our trip on the Southern shore of Lake Balaton is rich in beaches and the unique scenery of the Northern mountains. Meanwhile, we pass Balatonfenyves, Balatonmáriafürdő and Balatonberény, too.
On the way to our destination, in Fenékpuszta we might have a look at the ancient Roman ruins (Valcum) and the place where they ring birds.
Furthermore, there is also a 400-year old toll- house in Fenékpuszta, which operates as a bar today.
